What makes a Construction Ambassador?
A person from any sort of construction background with at least two years’ experience of training or employment. They need to be a positive role model who can motivate young people into seeing the opportunities careers in construction offer.
Ambassadors are required to complete a minimum of one day per year at an event/opportunity arranged by a CITB Career Adviser and vary from careers conventions and seminars to site visits, activity days and mentoring opportunities.
Be prepared to give presentations to young people and answer their questions about a life working in construction. Getting involved at events to promote the construction industry may be part of your corporate social responsibility.
Benefits for employers
The Construction Ambassadors programme raises awareness of the industry and the career opportunities that are available to young people.
It aims to embed itself within an employer’s strategy for corporate social responsibility, based around engagement with education, and is a vehicle for encouraging participation in construction apprenticeship programmes.
The course is delivered free of charge by careers teams from CITB, however we do reserve the right to charge a cancellation cost if confirmed delegates do not attend.
The programme is a working example of good practice for employers wanting to contribute to the development of construction, especially with new entrants.
Employees selected to become a Construction Ambassador will also benefit from enhanced skills and continued personal development.
