IRT Scotland, which is the Scottish Roof Training Group organise and host a joint golf event annually for the IoR and the NFRC.
This year marks the third year of the event and as always, held at Kirkintilloch GC. The format is Texas Scramble – Shotgun Start so everyone out at the same time and all back in at the same time. This means that everyone is available for the meal and prize giving.
This year we set it up slightly differently with the opportunity to win a car (Mini) for a hole in one on a Par 3.
The course also has three other Par 3’s so there was the opportunity to win Cash prizes for a hole in one on any one of those.
Sadly on the day – nobody got a hole in one.
Another addition to the day was the decision to make it a day of giving back as an industry.
Dementia is a terrible disease and families coping with loved ones suffering from dementia go through terrible highs and lows.
Unfortunately today, most if not all either have a relative or know of someone who is closely associate with dementia.
PlayList for Life works with families throughout the UK to produce an excellent coping tool by way of collating playlists of the sufferers favourite music which has been proven to have comforting, calming effects on sufferers.
With this in mind, the event held a charity raffle as a closer to the day and co-founder Andy Lowndes came along to give an overview of what the charity does, how it gets involved and to present the raffle prizes. The result was that we were able to raise the sum of £1280.00 to help further their important and very worthwhile work.
